Meet Perplexity: Your new marketing assistant. In the next 10 minutes, I'll give you my top tips for using Perplexity AI in marketing to attract clients faster.

Perplexity is one of the biggest, baddest AI tools in 2026.
Just 4 years after launching, it has 30+ million monthly active users and a valuation of nearly $20 billion!
Why is it so popular?
Well, if you run an HVAC, plumbing, electrical, or landscaping business, you probably don’t have the time to do marketing yourself.
That’s where Perplexity gets interesting.
It can help write blog posts, create entire websites, social media posts, FAQs, and even do competitor research with impressive accuracy... yes, way better than ChatGPT!
In the next 10 minutes, you'll discover how to use Perplexity AI for marketing to attract clients faster.
Perplexity is a conversational, AI-powered search engine that launched in August of 2022.
It's designed to provide direct, accurate answers to complex questions, combining real-time web search with generative AI to offer up-to-date information.
You can feed it a prompt like:

And within seconds, Perplexity produces a list of conversion-ready ad headlines... ready for you to use!

Remember, the more specific your context and input, the sharper the output!
You can even ask follow-up questions to refine answers, creating a chat-like research experience.
If you plan to use it for marketing, I strongly suggest upgrading to a paid tier like Pro or Max. These unlock advanced AI models with reduced hallucination rates, higher query limits, and priority support.

One Reddit user even confirms, "Perplexity Pro is the king of 'Google on steroids.' It's great for finding specific data, statistics, or events. It's even low hallucination because it's source-based."
I tend to agree with this. Even through my own experiments, Perplexity AI marketing has some serious potential with very little margin of error.
As a small business owner, you have limited time and a tighter marketing budget.
Efficiency is extremely important.
Perplexity AI for marketing is ALL about efficiency. It greatly reduces the time needed for marketing research, content planning, and competitor analysis.
Just off the top of my head, Perplexity helps with:
Just with these tasks alone, Perplexity can save you 9-13 hours every single week!
That said, it’s important to be realistic about what AI tools can and cannot do.
Perplexity can help you do roughly 50% to 60% of the marketing process, but it cannot replace the strategy, execution, optimization, and experience of a skilled marketing team.

Content is one of the BEST ways to use Perplexity AI for marketing.
My team and I love using Perplexity to find relevant blog topics, create drafts, pinpoint FAQs, and plan and create content.
This directly contributes to better rankings and better lead generation.
Perplexity is excellent for discovering what customers are actively searching for.
I'd use a prompt like:

... and in 2 seconds, I get a full list of usable topics, ready to fire up!

Perplexity removes the clumsy guesswork. It just gave me a ton of new ideas to build content around. And mind you, this is based on real-world demand.
That usually leads to more relevant leads!
This one I love. Perplexity also helps speed up content production.
You can use it to outline blog posts, generate FAQ sections, organize service page ideas, or summarize customer questions into usable content.
For example, an HVAC company could ask Perplexity to create a blog outline for "5 Signs Your AC Needs Repair Before Summer."

But I have to reiterate: Perplexity works best as a research and drafting tool.
You still need to edit the output yourself and add your own personality and expertise.
SEO is incredibly complex. It has 100+ moving parts.
Luckily for us, Perplexity is phenomenal at uncovering great keyword opportunities, search intent (like repair vs replace queries), and content gaps (missing water heater service pages).
Here's how my team and I use it in our SEO process:
Most keyword tools like Ubersuggest stop at volume and difficulty.
Perplexity can go deeper by helping you understand intent: what people actually mean when they search.
Use a prompt like:

I was fascinated to see Perplexity's output:

Knowing intent is so, so important. You'll be able to target traffic that is more likely to convert!
But as one Reddit user points out, "Perplexity doesn’t replace SEO tools like Ahrefs, but it definitely complements it and speeds up analysis."
I agree!
My team even uses Perplexity every 3 to 6 months to improve the pages we already have.
You can ask Perplexity how to strengthen a service page, what questions to answer, or which subtopics competitors cover better.
Copy and paste your service page, and use a prompt like:

Perplexity may suggest adding:
Don't discount these suggestions. Even small improvements on your website can vastly increase your relevance, rankings, and conversions!
But again, AI tools alone RARELY do SEO well. Perplexity can speed up your research and uncover opportunities, but you need a pro agency to bring the technical execution, backlink strategy, CRO, and long-term planning to life.
What if you could spy on your competitors without wasting 3 hours doing it?
Perplexity is unbelievably good at that. Let me break this down into 2 clear phases:
Pick your top 3 competitors and use Perplexity to analyze what they're doing online.
You can review their service offers, website messaging, pricing mentions, review themes, promotions, and content strategy.
Use a prompt like:

Interestingly enough, this is what Perplexity returned:

If, in its AI-generated answer, you notice competitors heavily promoting same-day service, that's what you need to emulate.
But remember, Perplexity is just one piece of the puzzle. Read my full Gemini guide today to gain an edge in your market research.
Perplexity is a phenomenal mind reader. It can reveal what your customers care about most.
You can research common complaints, buying concerns, seasonal demand, and popular questions in your market.
An HVAC company could ask:

And boom! Just like that, you'll get valuable consumer insights when using Perplexity AI for social media marketing or for anything else.

Your audience gets timely, relevant content, told in the way that fits how they consume it.
Not every lead should get the same message.
Perplexity is a lifesaver when it comes to understanding different customer groups, what they care about, and how to market to each one more effectively.
You can use Perplexity to identify audience segments based on needs, urgency, budget, location, or seasonality.
For example, an electrician company could ask:

And it will give you a helpful base that you can build upon:

You now have a ready-made audience to write for.
And as Lumar points out, "By putting the customer at the centre of your marketing strategy, you can truly differentiate your brand."
Segments locked in? Let's get to your messaging!
A Salesforce study revealed that 76% of customers are more likely to buy from brands that personalize their messaging.
Emergency plumbing leads may respond to speed and availability, while remodeling customers may care more about quality and pricing transparency.
Perplexity generates these custom message angles for each audience to keep your campaigns relevant.
For example, a plumber could ask Perplexity:

And honestly, the output is not bad at all. It needs a little human refinement, but it's pretty close to perfect:

Is your content AI-ready? Follow the key tips in my AEO vs GEO article, and you'll gain a MAJOR edge.
Bad information will cost you dearly.
That’s why I suggest using Perplexity to verify claims, compare sources, and catch weak content before it reaches customers or search engines.
Because it doesn't hallucinate as much as ChatGPT, you can use Perplexity to check whether claims are accurate and supported.
Compare multiple sources, validate statistics, and confirm industry information before publishing content.
Simply feed it a prompt like:
"Verify current average HVAC installation costs in Texas using reliable sources. Compare at least 3 references and note any differences."
That helps prevent outdated pricing, weak claims, or misleading information.
Perplexity can also help flag topics that may need compliance review.
A plumber could research permit rules. An electrician may check licensing language. An HVAC company might review rebate program details.
It’s not legal advice, but it can be a helpful first step.
I suggest making Perplexity a part of your weekly marketing routine.
You do NOT need to overhaul your business or learn complicated systems.
Start simple and stay consistent. Here’s a practical workflow:
The key is using Perplexity to save time and guide decisions.
But it's worth repeating: Never let Perplexity replace your judgment, your experience, or your voice.
To quote Data Studios, "The most effective way to use Perplexity is to treat its citations as the first step in a verification process, not as a substitute for personal due diligence."
Is SEO old news? Will AI take over the game? Not quite! Read my GEO vs SEO before you make your next move.
When Perplexity first tested ads in late 2024, its early partners were larger brands and agencies like Indeed, Whole Foods Market, Universal McCann, and PMG.
These Perplexity Ads showed up as sponsored follow-up questions and side placements.
However, by October 2025, Perplexity reportedly paused accepting new advertisers due to concerns around user trust, scale, and limited performance data.
For now, you cannot log in and run self-serve Perplexity Ads like Google search advertising.
For small business owners, Perplexity is currently more valuable as a marketing research tool than an ad platform.
Google Ads and Facebook Ads are still great for local lead generation.
As of early 2026, Perplexity has no immediate plans to bring back Perplexity Ad-sponsored placements.
While self-serve Perplexity Advertising is not available today, the platform could reopen or expand Perplexity Ads in the future as it grows.
That said, the smartest move right now is not to sit around waiting.
Focus on building strong organic authority today with helpful content, reviews, SEO, and expert website pages.
If Perplexity expands its ad ecosystem later, businesses already seen as trusted sources now will have a major head start.
Perplexity AI for marketing is critical in 2026.
It can help you uncover better keywords, create smarter content, study your competitors, and even spot opportunities faster.
But if you want to stay truly competitive, you need more than Perplexity.
